  • The wild world of 'what if?'

I go to a non-denominational church when I'm at college. The ministry is awesome; I've grown in the faith and it's been a great experience. The only thing is that I feel everyone is college ministry does not approve of my boyfriend. He isn't a member of the church and I've been told time and time again that it doesn't matter. My pastor said that he was concerned about his walk with Christ and how our relationship could lead to marriage; also that we are breaking up and getting back together constantly. We took a break once because God told me to since I was focusing more on the relationship and instead of on Christ. A while ago my mom told me that nobody can judge another person's relationship with God. My boyfriend and I have been together for 16 months; only took one break because God told me to take some time off. I don't see where the idea comes from that we are unstable.

A couple of nights ago my boyfriend and I were chatting about the possibility of 'What if someone tells you to breakup with me?' It was a scary question because I feel that God is eventually going to call us to marriage. We both are believers in Christ. I could understand if he is an non-believer. The Bible is very clear about being in relationships with unbelievers. Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers [do not make mismated alliances with them or come under a different yoke with them, inconsistent with your faith]. For what partnership have right living and right standing with God with iniquity and lawlessness? Or how can light have fellowship with darkness? (2 Cor. 6:14, NKJV). If anyone has any tips of suggestions that would be greatly appreciated. God sincerely bless you!
